I know it's been awhile since I have posted anything. My life is full. Not busy or hectic or rottenly overwhelming, just full. A type of full that doesn't wear you down but doesn't lift you up either. I also know that it was my (& PR's) decision to move here, away from friends and family. But it has it's benefits. No traffic on out street to keep us up or worried for the safety of our children, no noisy neighbors discussing their ills at the top of their lungs and no one to tell me how many trees and of what kind to plant. We do, however, have a lot of dust, and one noisy rooster. We are pretty isolated. And we were hot, hot, hot! That's why were refer to our ten acres as "Just north of hell". Living here is bittersweet. My four children love it here and that makes the dirt, the heat, and the occasional scorpion or snake worth it. Besides it's practice for the after life - if I don't make the cut!

What can we learn?

I have been searching for my husbands family and information about them on the popular genealogy sites. I have had some really good finds! - not information on them specifically but the tidbits that i can glean have sent me on research projects. I found out about Fitchs' Home for the Soldier and their Ophrans established in Darien ,CT. An Ancestor spend the last ten years of his life there. And i found out that Nova Scotia has a lot of coal mining towns and have been mining there since 1650's or so. I have done the same on my side of the family for all the ones I know the locations of anyway. I have done this because I want to put a history book together for my kids. Photos of the past have gone to elder relatives unwilling to past on copies, so I am reduced to pictures of markers of their existence. There have been some giving individuals that have shared what they have and what they know and to them I am sincerely grateful. Why keep a picture in a box in the closet?
