What can we learn?

I have been searching for my husbands family and information about them on the popular genealogy sites. I have had some really good finds! - not information on them specifically but the tidbits that i can glean have sent me on research projects. I found out about Fitchs' Home for the Soldier and their Ophrans established in Darien ,CT. An Ancestor spend the last ten years of his life there. And i found out that Nova Scotia has a lot of coal mining towns and have been mining there since 1650's or so. It is true, in my personal case, that we can learn from the past.

Head stones

I recently took a trip to Connecticut where I took pictures of my husband's dead relatives, much to shock and dismay of the living ones! I have done the same on my side of the family for all the ones I know the locations of anyway. I have done this because I want to put a history book together for my kids. Photos of the past have gone to elder relatives unwilling to past on copies, so I am reduced to pictures of markers of their existence. There have been some giving individuals that have shared what they have and what they know and to them I am sincerely grateful. Why keep a picture in a box in the closet? Display , Display , Display is my motto. I am crazy?
